In Exodus 3:13-15, when Moses asked GOD how to tell the Israelites about Him, GOD replied: אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה (Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh, meaning I Am that I Am"). What is the relevance of this to The Nature of GOD ? Does GOD change what He is, His emotions and decisions? Why does a doctrine whose narrative that their god took a human form to sacrifice for Salvation contradict how GOD introduced Himself to the Israelites? Do you think GOD cannot find a way for Salvation where His Nature as GOD always prevails over the Nature of Man? See the value of The Nature of GOD in knowing what GOD is and how it protects us against false doctrines.

Let us start with the original Bible language Hebrew. Please note that Hebrew is a writing where text reads from right to left called Right-To-left (RTL) Script. In the scripture Exodus 3:13-15, I have highlighted two important areas:

  • The First Area: The Name of GOD (uses the word “LORD” as a reference)
  • The Second Area: What and Who GOD is (i.e., the Nature of GOD)

Exodus 3:13-15 (JPS 1985 English)

13Moses said to God, “When I come to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is His **[The Nature of GOD](/post/the-nature-of-god/)**?’ what shall I say to them?”

14And God said to Moses, Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh.” He continued, “Thus shall you say to the Israelites, ‘Ehyeh sent me to you.’”

15And God said further to Moses, “Thus shall you speak to the Israelites: The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you: This shall be My Name forever, This My appellation for all eternity.

I have highlighted these two important areas to help people differentiate between them. Some think that I Am that I Am (Transliteration: Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh, Original Hebrew Source: אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה ) is a Name, which is Not the The Nature of GOD of GOD. It reflects What and Who GOD is, and we will discuss it after discussing the Name of GOD.

The First Area:

Focusing on the Name of GOD in the above Hebrew scripture, GOD gave His Name יְהֹוָה which the English translation refrence it using the noun LORD.. Why? In Judaism, we do not use the Name of GOD under normal circumstances, such as normal conversation or reading ordinary sentences. We only use the Name of GOD during worship and prayers because we treat it as Sacred and Holy. I agree and align with Judaism because it prevents the misuse of the Name of GOD and avoids the scenario of unintentional blasphemy. I also will not transliterate the full Name of GOD in this post. Note that “Yod Hei Vav Hei” or some use “YWVH”, are only consonants, and we still need the vowels to pronounce it correctly. I have included the vowels (Niqqud) in the above Hebrew translation scripture to help the readers. How can we confirm that the Name of GOD, in Hebrew, uses the noun LORD as a reference? The word LORD in Hebrew translation is אָדוֹן, meaning Adon, so we can see that the Name of GOD in Exodus 3:15 is not אָדוֹן, but is a reference. You may also notice that many use the noun Adonai. Adonai is the plural form of Adon, and when addressing GOD, it is considered singular. The common reference used is Hashem (השם ), where ה means “The” and שם means “Name,” so in English “The Name.”.

Many will say, “Jesus forever,” but that contradicts what GOD has sealed eternally. GOD has given only One Name, and it is not Jesus. You might argue that it is the Name of the Father in Heaven, as depicted in their Trinity Doctrine, with the Son being Jesus. However, GOD, who foresees the future, never provided any other Name to represent Him. Remember, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in the Trinity Doctrine are one GOD. If their Trinity Doctrine were acknowledged by GOD, He would have informed Moses of other Names to identify Himself as GOD or any other personas that their doctrine portrays. We cannot put into the presumption that it is yet concealed at that point because GOD already gave the prophecy of the Messiah indicated in Deuteronomy 18:15-19, so if Jesus is the Messiah, the name Jesus would have been given, as their doctrine revolves equating Messiah with GOD. GOD can see the future, but the future that GOD sees does not include their Trinity Doctrine where they add the name of Jesus as the name of their false GOD for eternity. There is only One Name, and it is not Jesus. There is only one appellation that GOD recognizes to identify Him, and it is not Jesus. We cannot redirect it to Jesus because Jesus does not meet The Nature of GOD for us to consider Him as GOD. If you argue, don’t worry. We will discuss it in the next I Am That Am 2 post, so please watch for our next post.

The Second Area:

Now let us focus on I Am that I Am as an interpretation of Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh (אֶהְיֶה אֲשֶׁר אֶהְיֶה). The Hebrew word .אֶהְיֶה. is a form of “to be” which can mean “I am,” “I will be,” or “I become.” אֲשֶׁר means “who,” “that,” or “which.” Other full interpretations include “I Am Who I Am” or “I will be Who I will be.” Either translation emphasizes GOD’s Self-Existence and Infinite, Eternal and Unchanging The Nature of GOD . The key link of this to The Nature of GOD is that He is self-defining and not dependent on external validation, which creates contradiction in the Trinity doctrine, Hypostatic Union, or their Dual Nature. Another interpretation where their doctrine would inject narrative is “I will be what I will be,” which would create issues. Again, we will discuss the details of these issues and loopholes of their doctrine in the next post I Am That I Am 2.

We can see that the Second Area focuses on What and Who GOD is. Here are the verses that reflects I Am that I Am.”

Isaiah 44:6 (JPS 1985 English)

Thus said the LORD, the King of Israel, their Redeemer, the LORD of Hosts: I am the first and I am the last, and there is no god but Me.

Isaiah 48:12 (JPS 1985 English)

Listen to Me, O Jacob, Israel, whom I have called: I am He; I am the first, and I am the last as well.

“I Am He; I Am the First, and I Am the Last as well” clearly reflects the Self-Existence of GOD, as stated I Am that I Am.” Being the First that exists because GOD is the primary cause of existence. Being the Last that exists and being the Last does not imply that His existence will end because GOD is Eternal and an Infinite Being. GOD is also unchanging, so His Nature is immutable. Below is the verse that support this:

Malachi 3:6 (JPS 1985 English )

For I am the LORD—I have not changed; and you are the children of Jacob—you have not ceased to be.

GOD is unchanging and refers to His Nature as GOD. For example, Purity is the The Nature of GOD , and there will never be any state, scenario, or existence where impurity exists on any of The Nature of GOD because it will create a chain reaction or domino effect, as explained in the Ripple Effect post, which will end up to a formulation of a false GOD. GOD is unchanging, but that does not imply that GOD cannot change decisions or emotions. GOD does change His decisions and emotions, and details are discussed in Chapter 1.4 Nature, Emotions, and Decisions of G-D in the Save Our Souls free book. Unchanging here refers to The Nature of GOD . GOD also has no Antithesis. An antithesis to GOD would imply a dualistic system where another entity or principle opposes GOD. It would contradict the monotheistic foundation of the Bible, which declares that there is no power, force, or being equal to or opposing GOD. Having no Antithesis implies that GOD will always be above all, and this state will never change, for no creation surpasses GOD. The other interpretation, “I will be who I will be,” will now come into question because if GOD is unchanging, so what if GOD decides in the future (i.e., will be) something that contradicts His Nature, Will taking human form (baselining at the time of Moses) still aligns with “I will be who I will be?” The short answer is “No, it does not align.” Why? Please look forward to the next post, I Am that I Am 2.

Know that the Roman Catholic Bible does not contain the “Real” Name of GOD but only references like Lord, Father, etc., and Only in the Hebrew (Torah) that we can it. How can you be saved when you call GOD if, in the first place, you do not even know how to say the Name of GOD? My effort is to save the good people, and the learning in this post is intended ONLY for the scenario indicated in Joel 3:5. Strictly speaking, do not misuse the Name of GOD, and I’m giving you a caution:

Exodus 20:7 (JPS 1985 English)

You shall not swear falsely by the Name of the LORD your God; for the LORD will not clear one who swears falsely by His Name.

With my sincerest, good, and right intention to help save good people, please accept my help for you:

Joel 3:5 (JPS 1985 English)

But everyone who invokes the name of the LORD shall escape; for there shall be a remnant on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, as the LORD promised. Anyone who invokes the LORD will be among the survivors.

I hope you learn something and may GOD bless you for reading this post.
